Abstract
The objective of this research is to analyze the economic and social dependence of the organic banana production of the producers of La Palestina in the canton of El Guabo, province of El Oro-Ecuador; bananas are one of the main agricultural export products, making a great contribution to the national GDP and generating employment. The scope of the research is descriptive and non-experimental, to obtain primary information, a survey was used directed to the banana producers of the sector; among the most relevant results is that 90% are small producers with an average income of 1000 to 2000 dollars per month; 85% of the organic banana producers generate a stable labor force, in the same way, they have managed to market their production at Usd.5.00 per box of organic bananas, a price below the official price. Seventy-five percent of those surveyed mentioned that their income increased when they had access to sources of financing through public banks, which allows them to continue farming their plantations, improve their technological levels and apply good agricultural practices. Consequently, it can be concluded that El Sitio La Palestina shows a high level of economic and social dependence on the banana industry, mainly in the families dedicated to this activity, which has generated economic dynamism in the sector.
