Abstract

This essay, written to accompany a lecture to new students on the course of Economic Analytics, at the Institute of Econometrics of the University of Lodz in Poland, provides a broad historical account of the development of econometrics. The context enables students to locate various aspects of econometric analysis. The origin of regression analysis is described and an account of cointegration analysis is presented. This essay is concerned primarily with the propagation of the ideas as distinct from the manner and the circumstances in which they have originated.
