Abstract
in the oral jaws. The modes of attachment of all tooth-bearing elements, previously undescribed for an epinepheline serranid, are documented. This study provides a detailed description of the early feeding ecomorphology of a shallow water, marine perciform and indicates that general features of anatomical and dietary ontogeny may be shared by those fishes whose pelagic larvae settle out of the plankton to undergo transformation.
