Ecological functional regionalization of Panjin City based on GIS

Abstract

The regionalization is the premise of Ecological City's Construction. GIS technologie is the important guarantee of the accuracy and feasibility for the ecological function division. Taking Panjin city in Liaoning Province as an example, an ecological-social-economic database was created. This paper constructed the urban eco-sensitivity comprehensive evaluation model and ecosystem service function model through evaluation factor system and identifying the weight of evaluation factor. It produced the evaluation result map using the spatial overlay and analysis function of ArcGIS. The ecological sensitivity regions and ecosystem service function were plotted out. According to the heterogeneity among ecological functional units and the similarity of interior units, Panjin City ecosystem was divided into five functional sub-regions, 21 functional cells. This research method had some advantages over traditional methods. It was flexible and efficient, for it could accept any combination of parameters organized on a polygonal base map. The ecological functional regionalization of Panjin City provided a fine way of integrating remote sensing data, global position system, and geographic information system. Finally, the main tasks and measures have been proposed in ecological function region protection and the construction, this paper provides technical support for eco-planning of Panjin City.
