Abstract

Baiyangdian is the largest wetland in north China, it plays an important role in many aspects such as climate regulation, biodiversity protection, flood control, and local fishery production etc. The hydrological data of precipitation, evaporation, water level covering 1956-2000 have been analyzed for Baiyangdian wetland, the relationship between feeding flow to Baiyangdian wetland and precipitation in its catchment and the trend of water resources changes have been studied. In order to maintain Baiyangdian Wetland ecological balance, different ecological water levels including suitable ecological water levels, ecological drought water level, and ecological destructive water level have been analyzed. Through analyzing the monthly water level change regulation, October 1St is the key date to determine whither supplementing water to Baiyangdian Wetland is needed. The water amount and water supplement scenarios to Baiyangdian Wetland also been discussed in this paper.
