Abstract
The literature review uncovers the quantitative analysis of atropine sulfate using either direct determination methods or chemical derivatization techniques. However, in order to innovate upon traditional analytical approaches, an alternative method for estimating atropine sulfate was developed using the natural pH indicator turmeric. An economical and accurate chemical derivatization technique utilizing turmeric powder was devised for the quantification of atropine sulphate in both bulk and tablet dosage forms. The maximum absorption was identified at 600 nm, with a linear range spanning 0.5 – 2.5 µg/ml. The correlation coefficient (r) was calculated to be 0.9997±0.0006, demonstrating an exceptional level of linearity. Rigorous validation of the proposed method affirmed its simplicity, precision, accuracy, and rapidity in determining atropine sulphate in both its pure form and dosage forms. Additionally, the developed approach underwent assessment through the Analytical GREEnness Metric (AGREE), Green Analytical Procedure Index (GAPI), and Analytical Eco-scale Assessment (AES). The AGREE and AES scores were observed to be 0.78 and 96, respectively, signaling highly favorable eco-friendly outcomes.
