Abstract

Echiuran worms collected by the Spanish BENTART (=Bentos Antartico) cruises during years 1994 and 1995 to the South Shetland Islands from depths ranging from 24 to 1019 m are recorded. Three species are recognized:Alomasoma belyaevi, Echiurus antarcticus andPrashadus sp., with the presence ofPrashadus sp. confirmed in the Antarctic. Distribution maps and a checklist of the echiuran species south of the Antarctic Convergence with depths and bibliographic references are included.
