Abstract
Ecdysteroid levels in the developing eggs of Schistocerca gregaria were determined, at daily intervals, using gas chromatography and electron capture detection of ecdysteroid derivatives. Ecdysone and 20-hydroxyecdysone were present both as the free ecdysteroid and as polar conjugates. Total ecdysteroids reached a maximum of 40 ng/egg with ecdysone contributing the greater part.
