Abstract

AbstractBy means of radioimmunoassay, the circulating ecdysteroid (molting hormone) titers have been obtained for both normal and eyestalkablated juvenile lobsters. It is seen that these animals, following molt induction, have rapid elevations in their hemolymph ecdysteroids. The hormonal titers for these premolt‐induced animals closely resemble those of normal animals. In addition, the effects of temperature upon molting and ecdysteroid titers are examined in ablated lobsters.
