Abstract
Introduction: In elite Australian Rules Football (AFL), hamstring strain injuries (HSI) are the most common cause of time lost from training and matches. Additionally, athletes with low levels of eccentric strength have been shown to be at a greater risk of HSI than stronger individuals. Recent research using various interventions to improve eccentric strength are limited in their application to the elite level due to their recreational cohorts. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the impact of Nordic hamstring exercise (NHE) and hip-based flywheel training on lower limb and eccentric knee flexor strength in elite Australian Footballers.
