Abstract
Background: Blood culture (BC) is important in the medical treatment of infectious diseases and provision of medical care. Erroneous blood culture leads to inappropriate use of antibacterial medicine. At an acute care hospital (600 beds) in middle of Japan, until 2010 BC contamination rate had been higher than 3.0%. In 2010 BC's blood collection procedure was reviewed and then education was carried out using that procedure every year. So we examined whether the quality of BC was improved.
