Abstract

In present work, EBSD and mechanical properties were studied for cryorolled LM6 Al alloy. Solution treated (ST) alloy was cryorolled for dissimilar thickness reduction upto 50%, 75% and 90%. To analyze the effect of CR on microstructure of LM6 alloy, EBSD and TEM microscopy techniques were made in practiced and its mechanical properties are analyzed by using tensile test and hardness. The CR LM6 Al alloy manifest an enhancement in mechanical properties on comparison with ST LM6 Al alloy. Results revealed that fraction of low angle grain boundaries and kernel average misorientation increases with increase in percentage thickness reduction. CR processed LM6 Al alloy shows the improved mechanical properties among all sample conditions substantiating the effect of grain refinement.
