Abstract
An aluminium based metal organic framework, MIL (Materiaux De Lavoisier)-53 was synthesized using solvothermal synthesis. The poor conductivity of MIL-53(Al) usually restricts its practical utility in energy storage systems, due to which Bi2WO6 was introduced to form a MIL-53(Al)/Bi2WO6 composites with different composition. The electrochemical characteristics namely specific capacitance, cyclic stability, and resistance of the composites were analyzed using 3-electrode cell. FESEM, XRD, FTIR, XPS and Multipoint BET were used to characterise the material in terms of shape, crystal nature, functional groups, and porosity. At a current density of 0.5 A g−1, the composite was found to have a higher specific capacitance of 220 F g−1. It has shown good cyclic stability after 5000 cycles, with 78% of capacitance retention at a current density of 0.5 A g−1in 3 M KOH electrolyte. These findings suggest that the manufactured MIL-53(Al)/Bi2WO6 composites may be a good material for high-performance supercapacitors.
