Abstract

The conventional DC Ebers-Moll model of the bipolar transistor with three different types of piecewise-linear characteristics of the emitter and collector diodes is analysed. Separate necessary and sufficient conditions in the form of inequalities relating the current gains and the characteristics or weakly no-gain are derived. They are of practical importance in various theoretical and computational studies of diode-transistor circuits.
