Abstract

OZET Amac: Bu arastirma ebelik ogrencilerinin obez gebelere iliskin on yargilarini belirlemek amaciyla yapilmistir. Yontem: Arastirma Karadeniz bolgesinde bir universitesinin Saglik Bilimleri Fakultesi 2., 3. ve 4. sinifta egitim goren 173 ebelik bolumu ogrencisi ile yurutulmustur. Veriler “Kisisel Bilgi Formu” ve “GAMS-27 Obezite On Yargi Olcegi” kullanilarak toplanmistir. Verilerin degerlendirilmesinde sayi, yuzdelik dagilim, ortalama, ANOVA, Kruskal Wallis, bagimsiz gruplarda t testi kullanilmistir. Bulgular: Arastirmada ogrencilerin tanitici ozelliklerine gore Obezite On Yargi Olcegi puan ortalamasi karsilastirildiginda; ogrencilerin siniflari ile Obezite On Yargi Olcegi toplam puan ortalamasi arasinda istatiksel olarak anlamli bir fark bulunmustur. Arastirmada On Yargi olcek toplam puan ortalamasi 74.51±8.46 olup, ogrencilerin %69.9’u onyargiya egilimli, %10.4’unun on yargili, %19.7’sinin ise onyargisiz oldugu belirlenmistir. Sonuc : Arastirmada ogrencilerin yarisindan fazlasinin on yargiya egilimli oldugu, cok azinin ise on yargili oldugu bulunmustur. Ogrencilerin sinifi buyudukce on yargilarinin da arttigi gorulmustur. ABSTRACT Midwifery Students' Prejudice Against Obese Pregnant Women Objective: This study was conducted to determine the prejudices of midwifery students against obese pregnant women. Methods: The study was conducted with 173 2nd, 3rd, and 4th- year midwifery students in the Health Sciences Faculty of a university in the Black Sea region. The data were collected by using the Personal Information Form and the GAMS-27 Obesity Prejudice Scale. Number, percentage distribution, mean, ANOVA, Kruskal Wallis test, and independent samples t test were used to assess the data. Results: When the mean scores of Obesity Prejudice Scale were compared in terms of the descriptive characteristics of the students in the study, it was found that there was a statistically significant difference between total mean scores of Obesity Prejudice Scale and the students’ classes. In the study, it was determined that while total mean score of Prejudice scale was 74.51±8.46, 69.9% of the students had the tendency for prejudice, 10.4% were prejudiced, and 19.7% did not have the prejudice Conclusions: It was found that male student nurses having more difficulties and were rejected by greater number of patients in clinical practice. It is recommended planning of facilitating initiatives especially for male students at clinical practice. In the study, it was found that more than half of the students had the tendency for prejudice and very few ones were prejudiced. It was observed that the students studying in the upper years had also more prejudices. Keywords: midwife; obesity; pregnant woman; prejudice; student.
