Abstract
Three longhouses were discovered at the Eaton site in western New York between 1975-2000. From the postmold evidence obtained, these structures resemble most Iroquoian longhouses constructed throughout Iroquoia. Yet, particular dimensions of the Eaton longhouses are collectively distinct. When compared to other western New York sites and the whole of Iroquoia, the longhouses suggest that some Iroquoian peoples utilized a standard longhouse design. The question is why would Iroquoian builders use a standard.
