Abstract

This case study describes a bariatric surgery patient who failed to lose weight after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. Following evaluation to rule out medical, surgical, or major psychiatric problems, she was referred for behavioral treatment. After evaluation to identify maladaptive eating patterns, the patient was taught behavioral and mindfulness strategies for changing her attentiveness toward her eating. She was adherent to all techniques and was successful at resuming her weight loss program through 30 weeks of follow-up.
