Abstract

Goals and objectives of the total Biome effort are to relate productivity, nutrient cycling, energy flow and other ecosystem parameters of the Eastern Deciduous Forest Biome to geographical patterns, age-class distribution, and trophic structure; to analyze the processea regulating transfers of materials and energy among the components of these ecosystems and between local systems of various scales; and to synthesize the results of these and previoua studies into predictive models of scosystem behavior. A list is included of some 550 publications that report the results of studies made during 1970 through 1973. (CH)
