Abstract

An easily reconfigurable VLSI sorter is presented and a run-time reconfiguration scheme to tolerate faults is proposed. The scheme maintains the original data flow pattern by bypassing defective cells with bypass registers. A control signal distribution technique is developed to make the sorting algorithm work even for an array containing some bypass registers. An on-line fault diagnosis algorithm for this reconfigurable sorter is presented. Reconfiguration is carried out in a distributed fashion.
