Abstract

The results of a 1970–71 survey on the status of earth science in the middle schools of Nebraska show: a lack of qualified earth science teachers, a need for state guidelines for earth science teaching endorsements, programs to upgrade in-service teachers, and a need for more pre-service training in earth science. The estimated student population in earth science courses in the state is 9,040. No estimate of the students taking earth science as part of another course is available.
