Abstract

Peripheral benzodiazepine receptor (PBR) is long considered to be a useful noninvasive imaging biomarker for inflammatory diseases. For instance, 11C-(R)-PK11195, a radio-labeled PBR specific binding ligand, has been used to image brain injury in both preclinical and clinical studies. The purpose of this study is to determine if PBR expression is upregulated in irradiated mouse lung parenchyma as it relates to the early detection of radiation-induced pulmonary injury.
