Abstract
We explore the electron-positron pair-creation process associated with an electrostatic force that is localized in space and turned on in time. We find that during early times electrons are created (referred to as errants) that move in a direction that would be expected for a particle of the opposite charge. We study the errants’ energy spectrum and their production probability as a function of the duration during which the force is turned on.
