Abstract

The sandstones of the Kwahu Plateau of Ghana in the southeast part of the Voltaian basin are laterally equivalent to adjacent sandstones in the Akwapim-Togo Range. The shales of the Afram River valley overlie the sandstones of the Kwahu Plateau. A normal fault separates this sandstone sequence from the Afram Shales. The rocks of the Akwapim-Togo Range are iolded and thrust toward the foreland —the Kwahu Plateau and the Afram valley in the southeastern part of the basin.
