Abstract

Anterior dislocations of the glenohumeral joint are classified as subcoracoid, subglenoid, subclavicular, or intrathoracic.9 Fracture-dislocation of the proximal humerus with remote displacement of the humeral head is exceedingly rare. Previous cases include intrathoracic fracture-dislocation,2,5,10 thoracic inlet fracture-dislocation,11 and retroperitoneal fracture-dislocation,13 which have their own particular characteristics. In all of these reports, the treatment of these fracture-dislocations was delayed, as a result of either delayed diagnosis or the poor general health condition of the patient.
