Researchers in the Urban Environment and Childhood Asthma birth cohort study recruited pregnant woman aged ≥18 years in inner-city Baltimore, Maryland; Boston, Massachusetts; New York, New York; and St Louis, Missouri, with a parental history of asthma, allergic rhinitis, or eczema. Maternal questionnaires regarding smoking, stress, and depression were collected prenatally and annually after each infant’s birth.
