Abstract

1. 1. Previous investigations of the sources of erythropoietic and non-erythropoietic fractions of the early labelled bile pigment (ELP) in porphyric subjects are discussed. 2. 2. There is need to reinvestigate the alleged increased erythropoietic component of the ELP in congenital erythropoietic porphyria and of the alleged hepatic component of the ELP in erythropoietic porphyria using newer methods of investigating the kinetics of bilirubin formation. 3. 3. These methods are briefly discussed.
