Abstract
The SafeGuard Focus™ Compression dressing is a novel haemostatic device [1] for post-Cardiac Implantable Electronic Device (CIED) implantation wound care. This delivers active compression and can potentially reduce complications such as haematoma and associated wound breakdown [2] and may be better tolerated by patients compared to manual compression [3]. Pocket haematomas increase infection risk and may prolong antibiotic use [4], hospitalisation or rarely re-hospitalisation, pocket evacuation and device explant [5].
