Abstract

Modern scholars are of the view that Aboriginal people had important roles in setting up of the British colonies across Australia. A discussion of how and what European settlers absorbed from Aboriginal people and their landscape especially in the Kangaroo Island where the first unofficial settlements were established by European sealers, is presented.
