Abstract

Young families of the wood-feeding cockroach Cryptocercus punctulatus Scudder are described. Brood size immediately following hatch is 36 ± 13 (x ± SD, n = 168) nymphs; the sex ratio is 1:1. The head capsule width and antennal segmentation of the first four instars are described. The protozoan symbiosis of the hindgut paunch appears established by the third stadium. Neonates develop to the third or fourth instar by their first winter.
