It can be due to either skeletal or dental problems, involving one or more teeth. These crossbites can be considered as a functional problem in a young child, which may result in skeletal problems as the child transitions into permanent dentition. Often there is dilemma among the clinicians regarding the correction of these crossbites in primary and early mixed dentition periods especially owing to the child’s age and cooperative ability. This paper aims to discuss various views on early treatment of anterior crossbites in children, the treatment objectives and different treatment strategies discussed in the literature
