Abstract

Extensor tendon injuries are common and yet their management can seem simple in comparison to the surgical and post-operative treatment of flexor tendon injuries. This paper aims to focus on the immediate post-operative period, discussing whether research on early controlled motion is rigorous enough to recommend its standard use over an immobilisation protocol. The conclusion gives recommendations for use of early controlled motion in practice and the need for further research.
