Abstract
Effect of buoyancy on dynamical motion of lean swirling premixed flame has been investigated, using a rotating Bunsen burner. For all equivalence ratios, transition boundary between flame shapes differs in normal gravity (+1G) and inverted gravity (-1G). An unstable flame is observed only at -1G in a limited domain of equivalence ratio. The motion of upward combustion products due to the change in the gravitational orientation has a significant impact on change in flame shapes, flame stabilization limit and onset of the unstable flame.
