Abstract

The effect of endwall modification on heat transfer enhancement was investigated for inclined pin-fin channels with a flat and wavy endwall. Prediction of conjugate heat transfer between pin-fin and air was conducted numerically by RANS simulation based on the turbulence statistics, such as mean velocity, turbulent kinetic energy and turbulence dissipation rate, which were obtained by large eddy simulation. As a result, it is found that the wavy endwall shows an effect to enhance endwall heat transfer than flat endwall, while it shows less heat transfer rate on the pin surface and hence gives less total heat transfer rate than flat endwall, under a relatively high fin-efficiency condition of this study.
