Abstract

The study of the padding clothes found in the mummy showed after cleaning that they were made up of fragments of several different kinds of fabric. There were many pieces of linen cloth reinforced with straps that had been sewn on. The different pieces were fitted together like a jig-saw puzzle, using as a guide the kinds of seams, the shapes of some pieces, the presence of ring-tabs and the density of weave ; all these elements led to the hypothesis that the piece of cloth was in fact a sail. Another find was that of a short tunic which was reconstructed from the pieces collected from the mummy.
