Abstract

This article aims to present and discuss the activities of the Territorial Defense Forces in Poland. The aim of the authors is to indicate the position of Territorial Defense brigades in local security system. In order to present the situation in the best possible way, the work began with the description of the process of forming the Territorial Defense Forces in Poland. In the next section, the information on the functioning of the local security system in our country has been extended. The article presents the statutory tasks and describes examples of tasks that were performed by soldiers of the Territorial Defense Forces from the beginning of their operation. The authors also describes the cooperation of selected Territorial Defense brigades with other services, inspections and guards. The ending contains the most important conclusions regarding the possibility of using the Territorial Defense Forces, especially as part of supporting the local security system.
