Abstract

Percutaneous vertebroplasty has been demonstrated to provide excellent pain relief for people with vertebral compression fractures. However, cement leaking into the perivertebral veins maymigrate into the lungs and cause pulmonary embolism, a possibly life-threatening complication. We report a case of dyspnoea and chest pain associated with pulmonary embolism caused by cement leakage during percutaneous vertebroplasty.
