Abstract
Dysphagia management for those treated for head and neck cancer is complex and requires a multidisciplinary team approach. Virtually all head and neck cancer patients will experience difficulty swallowing at some point throughout the continuum of cancer care. Regardless of the severity of dysphagia or its cause, proactive dysphagia assessment and management optimizes long-term functional outcomes and quality of life for this patient population. This chapter will provide a framework for dysphagia management of surgically treated oral cavity and oropharynx cancers and nonsurgically treated oropharynx cancers.
