Abstract
The DECP Working Party on the Psychological Assessment of Dyslexia first met in February 1998 and included representation from the Association of Educational Psychologists and the National Association of Principal Educational Psychologists. Its remit was to review relevant research and practice in order to write a brief report to clarify the current concept of dyslexia, its links with literacy learning/difficulties and implications for educational psychology assessments. School-aged children were to be the primary focus of the report. In January 1999, a draft report was circulated for consultation to all educational psychology services, members of the DECP, course tutors, researchers with expertise in this field and others with a particular interest in the topic. HereRea Reason, on behalf of the Working Party, summarises the views of the respondents and consider their implications for the final version of the report.
