Abstract

The article outlines the role of online media in communicating information about changes in the pension system as a result of the reform conducted in 2012. Author has presented both the role or Internet portals focused mainly on economic issues as well as best-known and most popular websites. The article presents the role of journalism in the current system of online media. It shows how journalists prepare the news and which internet portals one should use to obtain the broadest knowledge about the changes in the pension system in 2012. The article also presents the role of the most popular Poish internet websites in informing the public about changes in the pension system which were introduced in 2012. It also outlines the role of economic websites, which provide detailed information about changes that occur in the pension system. In the article one will also find the answer to the question of whether the media create their own information policy or is it merely a reflection of what appears in the mainstream media. In case of the latter, a comparison of both the most popular sites and economic sites was made.The article also answers the question concerning the place of the Internet media in political discourse. It presents their roles in contact with politicians and opportunities for the public to participate in shaping the social policy of the state.A division of Polish internet media into right wing, left wing and centrist was made. What is more, media engaged in economic issues and their role in the pension education was presented.
