Abstract
A new type of generating device with good performance for nonsinusoidal oscillation of the mold in continuous casting is developed namely antiparallel four-bar linkage and its prototype is manufactured in the lab. Further more, dynamic model of the nonsinusoidal oscillation system for the mold driven by this generating device is built and the differential equation of motion is deduced, which shows this is a dynamic system with time-varying periodically parameters. And dynamics simulation of this system is done based on MATLAB. Results show that the natural frequencies and the mode shapes of the system vary with the position of driving crank of the antiparallel four-bar linkage, so whether resonance occurs in this system should not be judged only by natural frequencies but by its dynamics responses. Then the periodical solutions of elastic vibration of this system are solved using harmonic balance method and compared with those of the system driven by elliptic gear mechanism, which indicates that the dynamic and motion characteristics of the antiparallel four-bar linkage are superior to those of elliptic gear mechanism.
