Abstract
We report on an experimental investigation of widely tunable single-frequency semiconductor fiber ring laser, in which the single-frequency lasing oscillation was attributed by use of the semiconductor optical amplifier's high-pass filtering effect for suppressing the laser beat noise. Moreover, a bistable laser operation between the single-frequency and multi-frequency lasing oscillations was also observed.
