Abstract
Small RNAplaysimportant rolein regulation ofgeneexpression anddecides thecellfate.TheyarefoundtoregulatemRNAtranscriptwhichinturnare responsible for translating into proteins.Recent discovery of PIWI-interacting RNAsrevealed manymysteriousdimensionsofbiologyastheyare known to regulate“theancientrelics”calledastransposonsor“jumpinggenes”. Previously PIWI-piRNA pathway was known to be germline specific but recent studiesshowntheirstrongroleinsomaticcellsandneuronsindiverse organism.Hence,thisreviewisthestudyofmultifacetedroleofpiRNAin transposonregulationwiththecompilationoftheirrecentdiscoveryin different cell typesin order to provide a strong understanding of their role in Disease diagnosis and medicinal therapeutics to research fraternity.
