Abstract

The passive and active effects of the distributed piezoelectric actuators on the dynamic equations of the flexible structures for the general case of thick actuators with linear strain distribution are derived. A concentrated induced force and moment model of piezoactuators is also presented. General equations of the output voltage and current of a thick piezosensor with a linear strain distribution are also derived in a modal form. The proposed models are checked by special cases of thin piezoelements and uniform strain distribution. The analytical dynamic models are finally verified by experiment.
