Abstract
HIV infects CD41 cells, with the prime target being activated CD41 T cells. The virus enters these cells, replicates, and, as a consequence, the cells then produce new virus particles. Using mathematical modeling to interpret patient data, we have been able to gain information about this process, and we now believe that infected cells produce virus for about 1 day before they die.
