Abstract

Dynamics of the cavity ring down (CRD) signal of the b ˜ 3 A 2 → a ˜ 3 B 2 and c ˜ 3 B 2 ← a ˜ 3 B 2 transitions in acetylene was investigated. The a ˜ 3 B 2 state was populated by energy transfer in the (COF) 2–(C 2H 2) van der Waals clusters formed in the supersonic molecular beam (SMB) conditions. The A ˜ 1 A u state of (COF) 2 was excited by tunable narrow-band laser radiation in the absorption range of the 4 0 1 ( 4 1 , a 1 ) vibronic band. A second tunable laser induced the studied transitions in cis-acetylene, at around 17,535 cm −1. The recorded spectrum was assigned to the c ˜ 3 B 2 , 3 1 ( a 1 ) ← a ˜ 3 B 2 , 0 0 transition. Zeeman effect was investigated for several rotational lines recorded at 0.05 cm −1 resolution.
