Abstract

The z(xy)-z Raman spectra of KDP/DKDP mixed crystals of the hydrogen and deuterium vibrations have been well reproduced by using a simple addition of KDP and DKDP spectra. The reciprocal half width γ−1 of the forbidden ν4 mode in x(zz)y Raman spectra in the paraelectric phase increases with increasing deuterium concentration just in the same way as the ferroelectric phase transition temperature T c. These results indicate that the local distortion of PO4 tetrahedron is strongly correlated with the T c in these hydrogen-bonded ferroelectrics.
