Abstract

AbstractAlthough the kinetics of crystallization under isothermal annealing conditions in glassy materials is fairly well understood by the Kolmogorov–Johnson–Mehl–Avrami (KJMA) formalism, there is still a matter of debate on its applicability. By introducing a fractal geometry and the Meyer–Neldel rule on thermally activated processes into the KJMA theory, we can overcome some of the difficulties with the classical KJMA mode, with maintaining its intuitive simplicity. Very reasonable physical parameters are deduced from the extended KJMA theory
