Abstract
The damping properties of pneumatic shock absorbers may be improved by controlling the restoring force. The dynamics of a building with a pendulum-type shock-absorber system under an external perturbation is compared with its motion in the case of pneumatic shock absorbers, with and without hydraulic damping.
