Abstract

Paper deals with dynamics of catches, age structure and size-mass characteristics of the main commercial fish species of the Dniester liman - gibel carp Carassius gibelio (Bloch, 1782) and bream Abramis brama (Linnaeus, 1758). Age structure of gibel carp and bream populations turned to domination of younger groups owing to intensive commercial catches. Estimated parameters of the Bertalanffy equation, coefficients of total, natural and fishery mortality are presented. Stocks of gibel carp and bream were assessed. The stock of gibel carp in the Dniester liman is about 1150 tons, of bream – about 630 tons.
