Abstract

The dynamics of a charged particle in the model of a ribbon beam is studied in a plane-symmetric reversing magnetic field by means of numerical simulation. It is shown that the efficiency of converting the particle’s cyclotron rotation into the energy of its longitudinal motion depends on the initial phase of the particle’s entry. Increasing the length of the reverse field reduces the effect of the initial entry conditions.
